FIVE MINUTE LESSONS

Before undertaking these lessons, it is assumed that you know how to read the scales on your slide rule and are familiar with estimating or being able to determine the position of the decimal point in your answer.

Each of the following lessons are constructed so that in about five minutes you should be able to satisfy the objective of the lesson.   All five minute lessons will contain the following information:

  1. Title.
  2. Objective.
  3. Explanation of the technique.
  4. Diagrammatic or photographic explanation where appropriate.
  5. Practice exercises.

Where diagrams are used, a similar one to those of the Hemmi manuals will incorporated like the example below.

Five Minute Lessons

The end of the slide in the diagram do not necessarily represent the end of the slide rule or slider.  The scales involved will be labeled and the individual steps will be numbered and the asterisk (*) will indicate the answer.

Note:
In these diagrams, the values with their decimal point will be used where practical even though the slide rule will not show the decimal point.  This should not cause any confusion and will reinforce the fact that the slide rule does not keep track of the decimal point.
