If you're interested in complex numbers, make sure you check out this short paper, Finding Complex Roots. It deals with finding the complex roots for simple equations using slide rule techniques. A MathML version is also available, but you will need the MathPlayer plug-in from Design Science.

The start of the M•S•R Short Courses are now available. Presently there are four modules dealing with trigonometry with right-angled triangles. The modules so far are only on finding an unknown side, but others will be added soon. The modules are constructed using CourseLab Software and can be completed online or downloaded to your own PC for completion. Note that the courses are under their own subdomain.
And for something completely different! The Abacus Antics is back online (sort of got missed in the transfer), not a great deal at the moment but will improve.

Keeping with the philosophy to always help students in their education ... links have been added to some of my favorite mathematics sites. These include blogs and tutoring sites. I hope many of you find them useful and of course - interesting. On a less pleasant note, M•S•R has recently been attacked by spammers. Offending images have been removed and we apologize for this. If you ever find anything untoward, please contact us immediately.

Added some happy snaps of a selection of slide rules using PicLens. The PicLens viewer is a free plug-in and gives a very impressive way to view any graphics. If it's not installed, you can view the graphics as a slide show, but this is nowhere near as impressive. For a quick look, check the Happy Snaps pages.

The Collector's page has been updated to show screen shots and the URLs. We've also added the latest of The Mad Guide, nothing too new, but with a little bit of a change. The other site links will be updated soon.

Well, a new face-lift for one! I've tried to group the different sections in a more logical order and hopefully the navigation is better. Some items have been deleted because I felt that they didn't really have any great importance or add anything to the site or topic. The Mad Guide has not been included yet because it too is undergoing some changes. I have created redirectors for sites that linked to this one, but if you have time, you might like to change them on your site. Cheers!
